These Barbs exhibit a striking pattern of horizontal stripes that accentuates their sleek bodies, adding an eye-catching allure to any aquarium. Origin: Originating from the rivers of Southeast Asia, these Barbs thrive in well-oxygenated, slow-moving waters, preferring densely vegetated areas. Feeding: They are omnivores and eagerly accept a varied diet comprising high-quality flakes, pellets, live, or frozen foods. Their diet should include plant matter, small invertebrates, and occasional treats like bloodworms or brine shrimp. Tank Mates: Peaceful and sociable, these Barbs thrive in groups of 6 or more. They make excellent tank mates for other peaceful community fish like tetras, rasboras, gouramis, and peaceful dwarf cichlids. Aggression: While generally peaceful, occasional territorial behaviors might occur, especially among males. Providing ample hiding spots and space can help mitigate aggression.
